This quick and painless exam checks the mouth, lips, tongue, throat and lymph nodes for any unusual lumps, bumps or lesions. It only takes a couple of minutes and can be an important step in early detection of oral cancer.  Early detection can  significantly improve the success of treatments as well as survival rates - so this exam is included with every visit, and completely complimentary!​​

Plaque and tartar are removed from above and below the gumline through a process called scaling. This is the most important part of your cleaning and prevention appointment, since removing bacteria build-up will help prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease. We then use a polisher to remove the layer of biofilm and any stain present, and finish with fluoride which helps to re-mineralize the teeth and strengthen the enamel to fight against cavities.
